15 Disgustingly Expensive SUVs On The Market Right Now
Sports utility vehicles, also known as SUVs are widely famous among youth and sometimes they prefer it over other vehicles. The original models were constructed on a truck platform, using body-on-frame construction. It offered the ultimate utility and adaptability. Today, SUVs account for some of the most lavishly appointed vehicles on the road. Many also come with a price to match their luxury. The most expensive and poshest four-wheel drives usually start somewhere from $80,000 all the way to $300,000 or more. These vehicles have ridiculously high price points because of their features and specifications such as offering plenty of passenger room, upscale accommodations, sophisticated electronic four-wheel-drive systems with selectable driving modes, heated/cooled seats, power folding side mirrors and so much more.
So, if you have that sort of money burning a hole in your pocket, then we do suggest that you go through this list of 15 of some of the most expensive SUVs that you can currently get in the market.
15. Maserati Levante S ($88,900 – $98,600)
Maserati is one of the most well known luxury car manufacturers in the world, so it definitely comes as no surprise that they are also responsible for creating one of the most expensive SUVs that you can currently buy in the market. We present you the Maserati Levante.
The powertrain inside this beast is a 3.0 liter, 6-cylinder engine that is capable of producing an impressive 345 horsepower. It also comes with an automatic transmission which, when combined with the 3.0 litre engine ensures that it is fuel efficient for an SUV. When testing, the Levante was found to give somewhere around 14-mpg in a city environment whereas the mileage went up to 20-mpg on the highway. Multiple trim levels of the Levante are available, although almost all of them will leave your pockets empty with the base model costing around $88,900 and going all the way up to $98,600 for the highest trim.
14. Lexus LX 570 ($90,355)
A while ago, we did a list about cars that cost almost $100,000 and unfortunately, the Lexus LX 570 found its way on there. There is nothing wrong with that since the hourglass front grille simply looks hideous but if you find it to be appealing, then who are we to judge?
The frame of the SUV underneath is that of a Land Cruiser, so it’s not exactly new or anything. Still, the Lexus LX 570 can accommodate eight people and it has one of the best infotainment systems around. While the engine is a massive 5.6 liter V8, it only produces 383 horsepower which isn’t very impressive considering the fact that it weighs a whopping 6,200 pounds. Still, if you feel like spending a large sum of money on an average SUV, then the Lexus LX 570 it is.
13. Infiniti QX80 Limited ($90,445)
Something that a lot of people might not know is that the parent company behind Infiniti is Nissan Motor Corporation. Now, Nissan has been responsible for creating some of the most popular cars such as the GT-R. So, how does the company fare when it comes to SUVs? Well, the Infiniti QX80 is definitely a full-size extravagance SUV. The price for the base model starts at around $90,355 and while it is almost as big as a luxury yacht, the interior is nothing less than exquisite. It is built on a full truck-size frame. In terms of quiet and comfort, it matches its competitors.
It has been built on a full-size truck frame, and this beast is powered by a 5.6-liter engine producing 400 horsepower and coupled with a 7-speed automatic transmission. There is four-wheel drive as well as ABS for all those four wheels. The interior feels really amazing too, with your usual features like climate control along with premium leather seats.
12. Cadillac Escalade Platinum ($94,795)
Could you ever see yourself spending almost a hundred grand on an Escalade? Well, neither could we but sadly it is true. While the usual Escalade is out there and has been the favorite of hip hop artists and the like, there is a platinum version of this SUV out there too. The Platinum Escalade has exclusive features that take comfort, intricacy, convenience, technology, and refinement to the highest level possible.
Powering this behemoth is a 6.2 liter V-8 engine that produces 400 horsepower. Deep down, the Escalade is a Chevy Tahoe, which is something that really doesn’t justify spending almost a hundred grand on it but still, it carries a lot of luxury features that you’d expect from an SUV priced like this.
11. Cadillac Escalade ESV Platinum ($97,795)
If you though that things would end at the Escalade Platinum, then you were wrong. The Escalade ESV Platinum is a longer wheelbase version of the normal escalade while still carrying the features of the platinum. Just like the Lexus LX 570, the Escalade ESV Platinum has also previously made an appearance on our list of some of the worst cars you can buy for $100,000.
The engine is a massive 6.2-liter V8 that is capable of producing 420 horsepower, and it is more than enough to send the SUV from 0 to 60 in around six seconds. The only problem, however, is that the Cadillac Escalade Platinum is essentially a Chevy Tahoe underneath, which means that you simply can’t justify the ridiculous price tag. Still, if that’s what attracts you, then the Escalade Platinum is the way to go.
10. Range Rover Sport Supercharged SVR ($111,350)
Looking for one of the fastest Range Rovers around? Well, look no further because the Range Rover Sport SVR is a beast and even saying that would be an understatement. Since Ranger Rovers are usually considered for their off road capabilities, the SVR brings something entirely new to the table.
Powered by a 5.0 liter supercharged V8 engine, it produces a mind blowing 550 horsepower with 502 lb-ft of torque. This easily propels the SUV from 0 to 60 in a mere 4.7 seconds. The interior is jam packed with features and all sorts of luxury too. There are premium leather seats too, so there is no compromise on luxury here.
9. BMW X5 M ($100,700)
BMW is not a new name in the world of reliable and luxury vehicles, and this also isn’t the first time that the German automobile manufacturer has created an SUV. However, modern times have given birth to a new type of vehicle, commonly referred to as a crossover-SUV and that is exactly what the BMW X5 M is.
Powering the X5 is a 4.4 liter V8 engine with twin turbochargers, all of which is capable of pushing out 567 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. This ensures that it is not a slouch in any way or form, providing a 0 to 60 time of only 3.8 seconds which is impressively fast.
8. BMW X6 M ($103,195 to $ 104,100)
Take the BMW X5, chop its butt off and you end up with the BMW X6 M. Some people even resort to calling this a Bavarian cockroach but that’s all based on the physical appearance of the X6 M. Still, it is a BMW at the end of the day and costs upwards of a hundred grand.
The interior here is quite luxurious and while there isn’t much space for cargo or passengers as compared to some of the other entries on this list, it still turns a lot of heads. A 4.4 liter engine produces 400 horsepower making it quick, not as fast as the X5 obviously, but it handles well and comes with standard all-wheel drive.
7. Volvo XC90 Hybrid Excellence ($104,900)
The Volvo XC90 Hybrid Excellence is a handsome, square-jawed SUV striving to offer more than its rivals. The powertrain is a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine and while that may not seem like much, the XC90 produces 316 horsepower thanks to a turbocharger. An 87 horsepower electric motor is also there for the hybrid variant.
The hybrid SUV is packed with features which include an integrated navigation system, 21″ aluminum wheels, cruise control, distance pacing, ABS and driveline traction control. It can accommodate up to seven people comfortably and houses some of the most elegant interiors with deeply comfortable seats as well as Sensus, Volvo’s new infotainment system.
6. Mercedes Benz GLS63 AMG ($124,100)
The big Mercedes is even better this time around and with that special AMG treatment. The GLS63 has a massive 5.5 liter V8 engine sitting under the hood that can produce a mind boggling 577 horsepower. This is also in part due to the twin turbos present under there as well.
Seating space is plenty with the option to seat seven across three rows. The interior is pretty luxurious with a leather and wood trim present throughout. Almost all of the modern safety features also make their way in to GLS63 which obviously make sense since you’ll be spending well over $100,000 here. All in all, this is an excellent SUV.
5. Tesla Model X P100D ($136,700)
If you’re looking for the most environment friendly and fastest way of getting seven people from one point to another, then the Tesla Model X P100D is definitely the SUV of choice. Not only is it one of the fastest SUVs out there with a 0 to 60 time of 2.9 seconds, but it is also one of the safest.
The ride is very comfortable with seats covered in soft leather and panoramic views of things around you. A 17-inch touchscreen is present where the center console would be, allowing access to all of the controls for the vehicle. Sensors on the rear doors are designed so that they can fold away when being opened in tight spaces. Different trim levels are available starting with the 75D to the P100D with the latter being the most expensive.
4. Porsche Cayenne Turbo S ($156,900 to $160,750)
The Porsche Cayenne is one of the most well known Porsches around, while also being referred to as the executive’s car. While some of the early models were a bit ugly looking, Porsche definitely stepped up their game with the newer models. Despite its size and weight, the Cayenne carries a feeling of true Porsche-ness.
A twin turbocharged 4.8-liter V8 engine produces 520 horsepower under the hood which is then used to power the Cayenne. The interior, once again, screams luxury and it is lined with everything that one would expect from a Porsche luxury vehicle. Mileage is also not bad with 14 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway.
3. Range Rover Supercharged SV Autobiography Dynamic ($199,495 to $200,945)
This is the second Range Rover to be featured on this list and besides, not list of expensive SUVs would be complete without a Range Rover since they’re one of the most well known luxury SUV manufacturers. The SV Autobiography is a status symbol, one that you would buy if you were really planning on showing off.
It is powered by a 5.0 liter V8 supercharged engine that can output 550 horsepower, but performance aside, the interior is where it’s all at with the SV Dynamic. Diamond quilting with some of the finest perforated leather can be found here. The luxuries don’t just end with that, however, as it features a heated steering, power seats with both heating and cooling and a powerful 825-watt Meridian sound system.
2. Mercedes Benz AMG G65 ($218825 to$220,400)
The Mercedes-Benz AMG G65 would be the ultimate in expensive SUVs if it wasn’t for our next entry. Still, it isn’t something to be taken lightly. The G65 is breathtakingly expensive and also incredibly powerful. The powertrain is a 6.0 liter V12 engine that makes 621 horsepower and a massive 738 lb-ft of torque.
How crazy is that you ask? Well, that engine can move this three ton SUV from 0 to 60 in just 5.1 seconds. If that isn’t impressive, then we don’t know what is. Buying the G65 will set you back more than $200,000 so the only way you’ll be affording this is if you’re either a millionaire or end up winning the lottery.
1. Bentley Bentayga W12 First edition ($231825 to $297,400)
The Bentley Bentayga W12, hands down, is one of the fastest production SUVs in the world and that is no easy feat. A top speed of 187 mph is only made possible by the 6.o liter W12 engine that produces 600 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque.
The Bentayga can seat up to 5 people and it is the perfect SUV if you’re looking to show off your wealth. The interior is laced with some of the finest leather in the world and houses state of the art entertainment features like a 1920 watt audio system featuring 20 speakers and a rear entertainment tablets. So, if you have a $300,000 burning a hole in your pocket and you’re in the market for an SUV, then the Bentley Bentayga will definitely get the job done.
