15 Of The Most Disturbing Creepypastas (That Happen To Be True)
Creepypastas are popular stories told on the internet. Many of them are merely myth, but some are so convincing that they might actually be true. Many of these stories have spawned fan made games, movies, and short films based on them. Some have even spawned real life sightings of the creatures told in the stories, and many are convinced that they are real life tellings of unknown creatures.
The word creepypasta may seem like a humorous choice for defining a genre as creepy as this, but the word simply comes from he internet slang of copypasta. This slang is simply put as the copying of blocks of text from one webpage to the next. The reason creepypasta was named after this, is the idea that these stories are shared constantly. This is another reason why creepypastas have become so popular, because they’re easily sharable.
Whether the stories are true or not, doesn’t matter because they’re still very enjoyable to read. If you read these at night, make sure you’re prepared for difficulty sleeping. If you keep telling yourself these stories aren’t real it might help, but in the back of your mind you may be thinking they could be…
15. Slender Man
The slender man has grown in popularity since it’s conception as a creepypasta a few years ago. It has taken the internet by storm, and now exists many stories of seeing the slender man, and even some videos have surfaced of the supposed slender man stalking someone. The origin of the lanky white faced man starts back in 2009.
A creepypasta was posted that had the simple title of “Slenderman”. The story of the Slenderman was one of a large humanoid figure who had large tentacles, that doubled as extra appendages. The slenderman was said to be seen where children are abundant (i.e. parks, and schools. The popularity came from a photo of children running away from something that resembled the slenderman. The slenderman is said to posses powers of teleportation, and EMP like powers.
14. Where Bad Kids Go
A photographer is heart set on finding out more about a kids show he used to watch when he was young. The premise of the show consisted of graphic images that were put there to induce fear among children, as a scare tactic to make them be better. Each episode had a twisted moral like, bad kids stay up late, or bad kids eat desert first.
However, the photographer remembers one gruesome detail. At the end of each episode a shot of a door with a chain on it would be seen. The shot would slowly zoom in, and children’s screams, and cries can be hears, growing louder as the camera gets closer. Text in a another language would appear reading “this is where the bad kids go”, before ending. The photographer finally tracked down the studio in which the show was taped, and ended up finding the infamous door. Upon entering the room smelled of deceased bodies, and bones were present with old blood. Even scarier a microphone could be seen swinging in the middle of the room…
13. Abandoned By Disney
Disney has some dark secrets, and this creepypasta gained it’s popularity from this idea. Disney opened a park in North Carolina, and purchased a lot of land to open Mowgli’s Palace, a resort inspired by the Disney film “The Jungle Book”. One day Disney shut the park down, and sold the land without explanation. A person researching another one of Disney’s parks found this resort, and decided to visit it.
When he reaches the resort it gives off an eery feeling of abandonment. He finds a bunch of locked doors, and even sees the words “abandoned by Disney” scrawled across several walls of the palace. While going deeper into the park he finds a door that reads “Mascots Only”. He is intrigued, and decides to break into the room. Upon entering he doesn’t find much besides a locked door. As he turns away the door creeks open, and he enters. Inside old mascot costumes are hanging. He fondles the Donal Duck costume, and a human skull falls out. This spooks the man, and he begins to run for the door. He then decides to turn back to take a picture of the skull for proof, but as he turns around he sees a Mickey Mouse mascot staring at him. The Mickey mascot removes his head, and yellow blood runs out of it. As the man breaks for the door, he sees text on the door that reads “abandoned by God”.
12. Jeff the Killer
Jeff was a small boy, and he had recently moved into a new town. One day while waiting at a bus stop with his little brother, three boys attempted to jump the pair. Jeff successfully beat up his attackers, and soon realized he loved to inflict pain on others. When attending a birthday party of a neighborhood kid, the three attackers showed up again, and wanted to hurt Jeff. They poured bleach on Jeff, and lit him on fire by accident. The incident caused Jeff to become disfigured.
One night Jeff’s mom awoke to the sound of crying coming from their bathroom. It was Jeff, and he had carved a smile into his face, and cut off his eyelids, preventing him from ever sleeping. As his mom ran to wake his father, Jeff exited the bathroom, and brutally stabbed both his parents, before moving on to do the same to his little brother. It’s said Jeff is still lurking out there, and this is the best known image of the boy…
11. Emotionless Woman In The Hospital
In the 70’s it was reported that a woman appeared at a hospital in nothing but a blood soaked gown. The woman’s face was unworldly resembling that of a mannequin. She was missing eyebrows, and had makeup caked on. Her skin resembled that of paper. She was found with a small kitten clenched in her teeth. Before long she collapsed on the ground, and medics soon got her to a room.
She was strapped down, and medics awaited the police. She didn’t have any response, and remained calm. Her face expressionless, devote of any emotion. Before long she snapped her head towards a nurse, making her shriek in fear. Her teeth were sharp, and ridged. The doctor asked what was she? She didn’t respond, and simply broke free from her restraints, and bit at the doctor’s jugular. Soon the police arrived, and before leaving to go feast on them, she said to the doctor “I am God”.
10. 1999 Creepy Program About “Mr. Bear”
This story starts out like many others, and shows a blogger trying to track down the origins of a show he watched in 1999. As he began to research the obscure show, he uncovered dark secrets, that the man in the show was a predator trying to lure kids to his house. He murdered them while wearing a bear mask, which was present in the show. The man had no other name besides “Mr. Bear” which was presented in the show.
There were several episodes that featured a character named Bobby, a hand that was more or less forced to be there. In one episode the hand had a pair of scissors, and repeatedly stabbed another hand, until reaching the bone. Another reoccurring character was Mr. Bear, and these episode segments were called “Mr. Bear’s Cellar”. The contents that showed during this segment are unspeakable. Soon after the man operating the show was caught by police, and detained.
9. Smile Dog
This creepypasta tells a story of an image that was posted to a bulletin in 1992. The image was simply titled “smile.jpg”. It’s said that this who see the photo either disappears or dies. Except for one woman who saw the image, and lived. Her name was Mary, and the story focuses on the narrator going to visit the sole survivor.
The woman lives alone, and seems to be very secluded from the rest of the world. She however, is very reluctant to speaking of her experience. She’s locked herself in a room ranting about the demons inside of her, and how she sees visions of the image. It’s said that only way to lift the curse of smile dog is to send it to someone else, in a discreet email. This was posted as a type of chain email, but does it’s effects actually take place if you don’t send it… guess we’ll find out.
8. SCP Foundation
The SCP foundation stands for: Secure, Contain, and Protect. The foundation is said to have started many decades ago, only making light through a forum on the internet in 2007. The foundation has many people working for it like, doctors, researchers, and agents, all aimed at studying, and identifying strange creatures that have abnormal abilities.
The foundation is aimed at securing these creatures so they don’t get exposed to the world. That’s why they do tests on death row inmates. While there are many SCP creatures, the most famous is SCP 173. The creature is statue like, and has blood covering it’s disfigured face. The creature is said to not be able to move in direct eye sight, but when the person takes their eyes of of it, it will lunge at them, and break there next. The creature must always be watched, and many are payed to sit, and stare at the gruesome creature…
7. The Rake In The Woods
In the northeast parts of the US reports of a strange humanoid creature began to come out. This creature was known as “The Rake”, and it made news headlines for it’s many appearances. However, the news documents, and most things on the internet were destroyed. However, this hasn’t stopped the reports of seeing the creature.
The most popular story of the Rake, comes from a woman who awoke in the middle of the night to a disturbance. She woke her husband, and he saw what he described as being a large hairless dog sitting at the edge of their bed. The Rake crawled onto the bed, and remained inches from he man’s face. It suddenly jumped out of their bed, and dashed for their child’s room. The parent’s chased after it, but it was too late. When they entered the room, their child was bloodied, close to death. Her final words were “He is the Rake”.
6. The Keyhole
This story is of a man checking into a desolate hotel. After getting his key the receptionist warned him of a door with no number, and explained it was simply a storage closet, but whatever happens the man must not try to enter the room. The man listened, and went straight to his room. However, the man’s curiosity overtook him, and he went to check out the numberless room.
He jiggled the doorknob, and it was locked, as the lady stated. He then decided to peek through the keyhole. It was an ordinary hotel room, but at the corner of the room he saw a pale white old woman leaning up against the wall. He was confused, and creeped out, so he decided to return to his room for the night. The man returns to the room the next day to look in again. This time all he saw was red, and assumed the woman inside covered the keyhole with something. When returning downstairs the man asked the receptionist about the room, and she stated that a man killed his wife in that room, and it’s said that her ghost haunts the room. She also stated that the ghost has been known to have red bloodshot eyes…
5. Robert the Doll
Unlike many creepypastas Robert the Doll actually exists. Since he’s become so popular on the internet, many of the myths surrounding him vary. The doll was given to an artist, by one of his servants in the late 1800’s. The doll was named after the artist, and soon the doll began to take form, and terrorize the family. The artist kept the doll well into his adulthood, and it even drove his wife insane (like actual insanity).
The doll then passed owners, and it now belonged to a girl. She was stated as saying she was so afraid of the doll she refused to keep it in her room. The doll is now located in a museum in Florida. Many people go to see the doll, but he has special rules. You must ask him if you can take his picture. If you mock Robert, or forget to ask it’s said he will put a curse upon you.
4. The Russian Sleep Experiment
This creepypasta is so popular that the name itself induces dread among those familiar to it’s story. After WWII ended, five prisoners must perform an experiment in which they’re to remain awake for 30 days, while subjected to experimental glass in a quarantined cell. After a few days the experiment seems to be a success, but it soon begins to take a gruesome turn.
The test subjects slowly begin to lose their minds, and start to perform gruesome acts to the other prisoners. It was reported that some of the prisoners even began to eat one another. After a while the researchers wanted to enter the chamber to make sure the microphones were working. After telling the subjects to back away from the door, it’s claimed that one of them stated “we no longer want to be freed.” It’s said that upon entering the subjects attacked the scientists leaving them dead, only to be put down themselves by the military located there.
3. The Portraits
This is a short story of a hunter lost in the woods, who comes across a desolate looking cabin. When he enters the cabin, it appears nobody is inside. This is when he notices that it is beginning to turn into nighttime, and he decides to wait there for the owners to return, so he can seek directions. After hours with no one entering the cabin, he decides to sleep the night there.
As he lays down, he can’t help but notice the dozens of disturbing portraits that hang on the wall staring down at him. He tosses and turns, until finally falling asleep. He wakes the next morning to the sun on his face coming in from the many windows the cabin has. He gets up to notice that there were never any portraits hanging on the walls, and there were just windows.
2. Ted the Caver
Two friends enjoy setting out on adventures in which they explore dangerous caves, to seek thrill. The story is told through blog posts in which, Ted the main explorer explains how they were exploring a cave near their home one day. They notice a small hole, in which they want to squeeze through the see the other side. They drill a hole larger so they can fit through.
However, things quickly take a turn for the worse. The team begins to hear disembodied screams, and disturbing images on the walls of the cave. After exiting the cave quickly, the three’s nightmares aren’t over yet. The team explains having hallucinations, and nightmares of the things they saw, and heard in the cave. The three decide to return to the cave to extinguish their fears, and updated the blog saying they’ll return soon with more answers. The blog was never updated since, and the three were never heard of again…
1. Candle Cove
This creepypasta is told through a discussion thread about a children’s show that used to air in the 70’s. The shows premise featured a small girl who imagined herself being friends with pirates, however an episode caused the show to become controversial. The episode featured a character screaming painfully the whole episode, and the little girl was showed being annoyed by the screaming.
The thread featured a few dozen people who all remembered the same show, and all remember the show scarring them. As the thread reads on some people remember a character named the skin taker, who was a skeleton who’s mouth moved in a creepy manner. When the girl in the show asked the skeleton about why his mouth moves like it does, he ignored her, stared straight into the camera, and said “to grind your skin”.
One of the people on the thread decided to ask his mom about the show, and she was shocked he remembered the show. She then went on to explain that her son would sit in front of the screen for thirty minutes watching dead air…
