15 Reality TV Hosts That Bring The Heat
Have you ever wondered why so many people are addicted to watching reality TV? Have you noticed that you’ve been spending most of your time in front of the telly?
Studies prove that there is a correlation between daily exposure to reality TV exposure and narcissism. Apparently, the more exposed you are to the tube and the more you watch reality TV could mean you are a narcissistic person.
One might even suggest that voyeurism plays a part in why reality TV shows have made such a big hit. On the other hand, it could just simply be a case of being part of the crowd. After all, who wants to be left out of conversations?
Furthermore, it is believed that older viewers prefer competition-based shows, while their younger counterparts prefer lifestyle reality TV programs.
Whether or not you’re a narcissist, a voyeur, or just plain bored with your life, we cannot dismiss the fact that hosts are an important part of our favorite reality TV show.
The presenters should be interesting and bring a little something extra to the show. Otherwise, these hosts might just throw the audience off even if the TV program has a lot to offer the viewing public.
In addition, it also wouldn’t hurt ratings if the hosts were pleasing to the eyes and had some feisty personality. Think about it… what about your fave TV hosts do you like the most?
Now, we give homage to 15 reality TV hosts that bring the heat.
15. Heidi Klum
This German-American supermodel wears many hats. Aside from gracing photo shoots and fashion shows with her vibrant presence, Heidi Klum made her singing debut on America’s Got Talent last December 2016. Unfortunately, the sultry celebrity took quite a fall while performing on the AGT stage where she is also one of the judges. Despite the fall, Heidi Klum managed to get away with the stumble graciously; proving to everyone why she deserves to be called a supermodel. She is also the host of reality show Project Runway where she won Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program in 2013.
As if being a celebrity wasn’t enough, Heidi Klum has also dabbled in being a fashion designer and a businesswoman. She launched Heidi Klum Intimates in 2015 and continues to bring on the heat through her hot and fashionable lingerie designs.
14. Padma Lakshmi
For the uninitiated, Padma Lakshmi was discovered in Madrid where she was studying at the time. Padma Lakshmi shares that she is the first Indian model to have a career New York, Milan, and Paris. The Indian beauty has worked with designers like Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, and Versace among others.
Padma Lakshmi also keeps the heat going in other aspects of her life. She is Executive Producer and host of Top Chef. Padma Lakshmi’s hosting prowess was recognized in 2009 and was even nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program.
Padma may not have brought home the bacon at that time, but her cookbook, Easy Exotic, did get the Best First Book award at the 1999 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards at Versailles.
13. Miley Cyrus
The young Hannah Montana star is the youngest celeb to make it on our list. Back in 2008, Miley Cyrus found herself in a leaked photo scandal. Stolen bikini and wet t-shirt selfies, meant for Miley’s then-boyfriend Nick Jonas, were shared all over the net. Since then, Billy Ray Cyrus’ daughter found herself in a barrage of scandals such as making fun of Asians, twerking and stripping to her nude latex underwear, grinding on Robin Thicke, and a much publicized breakup with fiancé Liam Hemsworth, among many others.
Despite Miley’s not-too-stellar-past, the young star is back on her feet. She’s returning to judge hopeful musicians on The Voice; Miley’s even bringing along her father as her Team Advisor. Moreover, Miley’s gotten back with Liam and their engagement is officially back on! To top it all off, the young Cyrus is bringing the heat by announcing that her new album, Younger Now, is set to launch on September 29th.
12. Cindy Bishop
Another supermodel has made it on our list and she’s no other than Cindy Bishop. This Thai-American beauty represented Thailand at the Miss World 1996 pageant.
Cindy Bishop’s father taught her to dive at the young age of 5 and it, eventually, led to her first dive in the world of modeling. Cindy had to do a commercial shoot for a diving equipment shop and the rest is history. Talk about destiny!
Being a renowned model, it’s no wonder Cindy Bishop was tapped to host Asia’s Next Top Model Season 4. She’s done a pretty great job at hosting and mentoring the next generation’s models. In fact, we can’t wait for her return next season where she will be joined by co-judges Yu Tsai, Cara Grogan, and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.
11. Cheryl Cole
Being a singer and a dancer as well as being hailed as FHM’s the Sexiest Woman in 2008 and 2009, Cheryl Cole definitely has what it takes when she judged on The X Factor USA and UK. Cheryl even got to mentor two of The X Factor UK’s winners, Joe McElderry and Alexandra Burke.
Cheryl Cole won a spot in girl group, Girls Aloud, which jumpstarted her career. She proceeded to have a solo career and has since then released albums with singles topping the charts. In fact, Cheryl has a record of five number 1 singles in the UK.
Since giving birth to her and Liam Payne’s son, Cheryl has been out of the spotlight. However, it is reported that the One Directioneer is helping her collaborate with The Biebs for her post-baby comeback album.
10. Emma Willis
This brunette bombshell has hosted a whole slew of radio and TV programs.
On cam, Emma Willis has graced MTV, Big Brother, Brit Awards, and The Voice Kids among others. All eyes maybe on the contestants, but this won’t stop Emma Willis from looking her best. The presenter is known to dress up in Victoria Beckham, Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen creations.
Despite Emma’s flair for fashion, one could say medicine was her first love; turns out Emma wanted to be a nurse during her younger years. Would you get better or would you want to stay longer at the hospital if Emma Willis was your nurse?
9. Leah Remini
We bet you weren’t expecting Leah Remini on this list. However, this lovely lady has something to share about the Church of Scientology and Tom Cruise. Incidentally, her show, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, bagged the TCA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Reality Programming.
Having been raised as a member of Scientology since childhood, Leah Remini has a lot of things to say. Unfortunately, they’re all not pretty. In fact, the ex-scientologist just recently labeled Tom Cruise “diabolical” in nature. According to Remini, there are people who have different personas projected to the public compared to what’s shown behind the scenes.
We wonder how the Mission Impossible star is taking the heat from the recent accusations being thrown at him by Remini.
8. Cat Deeley
From hosting children’s program SMTV Live, Cat Deeley has moved on to hosting So You Think You Can Dance. Mind you, Cat has successfully hosted the dance program since 2006 until the present. Incidentally, she’s been nominated five times for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program. However, our dear Cat Deeley has yet to claim the title.
Despite hosting So You Think You Can Dance, Cat shares she has two left feet and that she can’t dance by herself. Pretty ironic for someone who has hosted the popular reality TV show for 11 years!
7. Caroline Flack
Completing our list is Caroline Flack who has just recently earned praises for her musical theatre debut on Crazy for You. Looks like the Strictly Come Dancing winner also has her heart set on conquering the theater stage.
Aside from honing her musical skills, Caroline has definitely mastered the art of hosting Love Island. To sweeten the deal, the beautiful host seems to have found love in Muggy Mike Thalassitis. They are rumored to be sending flirty messages to one another after attending a Love Island reunion party.
If things work out between Muggy Mike and Caroline Flack, the former will find himself dating the top 5 Sexiest Woman on FHM’s poll for 2015.
6. RuPaul
RuPaul is an icon and you know it. There’s just no way the drag superstar isn’t going to be included in our list of celebs bringing on the heat!
For 8 seasons, RuPaul’s Drag Race has been showing on Logo and eventually transferred to VH1 for its 9th season. The latest season turns out to be the most watched series with almost a million viewers for the season opener.
In addition, the ninth season has received eight nominations for different categories in this year’s Emmy Awards. Let’s see if RuPaul can bag the Outstanding Host for a Reality Competition Program again, like he did last year.
Incidentally, it looks like recent political events have somehow helped with RuPaul’s Drag Race’s ratings. Despite the show’s success, RuPaul doesn’t want President Trump to watch his platform.
5. Simon Cowell
Talent scout extraordinaire Simon Cowell might get some flak from the audience when he’s being too critical of contestants’ performance, but we still love him. After all, he only launched Westlife, One Direction, and many others to stardom!
Simon Cowell can be downright rude when he judges on American Idol, America’s Got Talent, and The X Factor, but deep inside the extremely scary façade lies a judge who is silently rooting for the underdogs. So if you think Simon’s being a diva maybe it’s just his way of pushing the contestants to work and reach harder for their dreams. Think about Susan Boyle and what Simon has done for her.
4. Gordon Ramsay
Remember Hell’s Kitchen and The F Word? How about MasterChef? What do they all have in common? Yes, we have Gordon Ramsay turning up the heat in the kitchen with his fiery temper and repetitive use of expletives. No wonder his kitchen staff in said TV programs can’t focus as well as they need to.
It is also amusing to see Gordon Ramsay transform to a nice guy when he hosts MasterChef Junior. One must wonder how much effort Gordon Ramsay put into being a sensitive judge for our young chefs. It must have been quite a strain on the celebrity chef.
The pressure must have been too much to bear for Gordon Ramsay as he lost his cool in Masterchef Junior Season 5 Episode 5 where he threw a raw steak at a fire truck.
3. Chris Harrison
To be surrounded by hot men and women at the sets of The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and Bachelor in Paradise must put some pressure on the cast and crew. However, Chris Harrison remains unfazed. With the host’s dashing good looks, Chris can hold the fort. Additionally, he’s been rumored to be dating former The Bachelorette contestants now that he’s divorced from his wife of 18 years.
Moreover, Chris isn’t just your typical host. He can also be a shoulder to cry on, like with the case of Rachel Lindsay on The Bachelorette. We wonder if Chris Harrison would somehow find himself in the shoes of The Bachelor.
2. Jeff Probst
Next on our list is Jeff Probst, the Emmy Award-winning host of Survivor. He grabbed the title Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program from 2008 until 2011 for his excellent presentation on Survivor. His natural interaction with the contestants doesn’t hurt either. That’s not the only reason Jeff made it on our list though.
Probst wears custom-made shirts and cargo pants. However, Jeff Probst likes hanging around in nothing but his birthday suit when not filming with the Survivor crew. Just ask the guys from Two and a Half Men. Who knew that Jeff Probst is hiding a well-chiseled body under his safari clothes?
1. Jon Montgomery
Who better to host The Amazing Race Canada than a gold medalist in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver? Ladies and gents, meet Jon Montgomery, skeleton racer and host of one of our favorite reality TV shows.
What makes Jon Montgomery a joy to watch? For one thing, his competitive attitude and excitement for The Amazing Race is infectious! He also sports a killer smile that could keep contestants off the track if they aren’t careful.
By the way, we also think Jon’s mother could be psychic. Joan Montgomery shares that holding Jon the first time, she has always felt that her son was meant to do great things. The next time your mom tells you to do something, just do it! Remember, mothers know best.
