15 More Times People Embarrassed Themselves On Social Media

Have you ever found yourself just scrolling down your social media newsfeed and stumbling upon some posts or comments that left you thinking, “Man, this person is so dumb!” Yeah, we’ve all been there. With so many people online, you really can’t expect them all to be geniuses, but still, it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if people double-checked stuff before posting them.

Social media is a great place for people to share pics, information, opinions, and news, and people often post the first thing that pops into their mind without really thinking about how stupid it sounds. Sure, you can often find useful information and witty comments online, but you are also bound to stumble upon the exact opposite of that from time to time. We’ve all posted some mildly regrettable stuff at least once, but that is nothing compared to some of the biggest social media fails of all time that will really make you question people’s intelligence and put you on the verge of losing all faith in humanity. On the other hand, at least you’ll have a couple of good laughs so it won’t be a complete waste of time. Let’s dive in and take a look at 15 pretty bad social media fails.

15. The Big Dilemma

Via providr.com

There is a number of facepalm stickers available on social media and posts like this one are the reason why. What do you even tell a person who asks you if 4th of July was on 15th or 16th? How do you answer a question like that with a straight face? Nobody expects you to be a genius and to amaze everybody with your intelligence but you really shouldn’t amaze them with an obvious lack of it either. The least you could do is get familiar with a calendar. Unfortunately, this girl is not the only one having problems of this sort. A while back, there was a woman on TV and when an interviewer asked her if she knew what day was February 14, she answered it was March 8. #facepalm

14. Selfie With The Statue Of Liberty

Via me.me

You can almost hear the weeps of both the New Yorkers and the Parisians while looking at this selfie fail. Sometimes you can’t help yourself but feel bad for the people who post this kind of stuff because this is really walking the line between funny and sad. Sure, you don’t have to recognize every single significant building in the world, but if you don’t know the difference between the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty, something in your education has gone very wrong. Of course, this pic went viral instantly, so it is pretty safe to assume that this girl will never make a mistake like this again. Or will she? It would probably be a lot of fun to be one of her Facebook friends and see what else she has in store.

13. Apples And Oranges

Via thesun.co.uk

Take a moment and try saying “gullible” in a way that it sounds like saying “oranges”. Take your time… Still nothing? Don’t worry, you are not the only one having a problem with this. However, there is at least one person who believes those two words sound exactly the same. Yeah, not the brightest bulb. At this point, it is really hard to tell if she was being serious or if this was another case of pretty successful Facebook trolling. Those two words are definitely apples and oranges (pun intended) and there is no way of making them sound even remotely similar no matter how hard you try. It appears people can still surprise us with their weird (and wrong) discoveries on social media, so just don’t believe everything you read.

12. The Stupid Elevator

Via blazepress.com

When talking about elevators and floors, this person really took embarrassment to a completely new level with their unbelievably dumb post. Either this person has never used an elevator before so they have no idea how elevators work, or they have just suddenly lost a whole bunch of IQ points and have found themselves confused. Either way, he/she was pretty puzzled by the fact that the elevator has a button for the floor they were already on, calling the elevator stupid and posting the pic on their Facebook page. It is really a shame that there aren’t any screenshots of the comments beneath this post, because it would be really fun to see how people reacted to this interesting observation. Hopefully, somebody explained that you might want to get back to the floor you are about to leave…

11. Rosetta Stone On A Bus

Via lifebuzz.com

This post is so absurd it is hard to decide where to start, but one thing’s for sure – it is offensive to pretty much anybody. First of all, the Rosetta Stone is a granodiorite stele (basically a rock) with ancient inscriptions, discovered in 1799, and you can see it in person if you visit the British Museum. So we have to agree with the first part of this crazy post: Rosetta Stone definitely did not sit on that bus… In fact, it was Rosa Parks who refused to give up her seat as a way of resisting bus segregation. So now that we’ve got the names straight, let’s move to the second part of this post and try to understand what it has to do with the LGBTQ community fighting for their rights. Or let’s not go there…

10. An Honest Mistake

Via wittyfeed.com

Here we have a nice Christmas picture that apparently left one person pretty confused for a minute. As you probably realized right away, there is a mirror above the fireplace and you can see a ceiling fan reflection in it. However, Jesse thought it was actually a framed picture of the family’s fan so he was wondering why anybody would love their fan that much. Luckily, he realized he was wrong before other people started mocking him. It was an honest mistake and that can happen to anyone, but that doesn’t make it any less funny. Although it doesn’t really make it any less embarrassing either. It is a good reminder to always think twice before commenting on someone’s picture if you want to avoid making a fool of yourself in front of a bunch of people.

9. Mirrors Aren’t Your Friends

Via habemus.social

Botched photoshopped pictures are the endless sea of fun and embarrassment on social media, but people still seem to make the same mistakes over and over again. It happens to celebrities. It happens to young teens. It happens to adults. It happens to everybody… Here is a kid who wanted to impress everybody by the weight he can lift but, unfortunately for him, he forgot to photoshop the mirrors before posting this online. You really don’t have to be a genius to realize this pic was photoshopped. But the really funny part is that he wanted to impress everybody so badly, yet he ended up embarrassing himself instead. If you are really going to lie to people on social media, you have to do it right if you don’t want to get caught, or just don’t do it at all.

8. Bye England, Hello London

Via acidcow.com

You have no idea how little people actually know about geography until you see some of their posts on social media. Geography seems to be a major issue among younger generations and there are numerous super embarrassing posts out there posted by people who had no idea where they were or where they were going. This girl is obviously one of them as she posted a picture of herself with her luggage and captioned it “Bye England. Hello London.” So let’s just state the obvious and say that London is in England in case somebody else was confused about that. Actually, let’s take a quick geography lesson: London is in England; England is in Great Britain; Great Britain is in the United Kingdom; the United Kingdom is in Europe; Europe is a continent on the Earth. Okay, I think we have it covered now.

7. Feel Bad For John

Via acidcow.com

John is going to stop smoking for a week because he feels bad for his liver. As long as he is at it, maybe he should give up booze as well because it really hurts his lungs. Wait, that isn’t right…

Smoking is obviously bad for you, but the liver really isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when talking about the harm caused by cigarettes. You inhale the smoke into your lungs, hence all those lung cancer awareness posters in the anti-tobacco campaigns. On the other hand, when talking about the damage done to your liver, it is often related to alcohol because liver clears it out of your system. However, it appears John should definitely lay off both cigarettes and booze, and probably for more than just a week.

6. Columbus Who?

Via pinterest.com

People, can you believe it has been almost 2018 years since Jesus discovered America? Unbelievable, right? Back in 2015, Keesha was pretty amazed by that fact as well. Maybe because it wasn’t a fact at all.

Counting years indeed has a lot to do with Jesus, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the discovery of America. In fact, the whole B.C./A.D. dating system divides the time into the years B.C. (before Christ) and A.D. (anno domini; commonly called “after death”). On the other hand, America was officially discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492, so around a millennium and a half after Jesus died. We could also mention some other names important for the discovery of America, such as Amerigo Vespucci after whom it was actually named, but Jesus is still not one of them.

5. A Little Known Fact About Birthdays

Via providr.com

You probably had no idea about this, but your birthday is actually the same day you were born. You are pretty mind-blown now, right? No? Well, here is somebody who was actually quite surprised when they found out this little known fact. One can’t help but wonder what they have been celebrating all the previous years when they had no idea what their birthday was. I mean, birth-day; it really doesn’t get more straightforward than that. But who knows, maybe this whole post was just one big joke because it is pretty hard to believe that somebody doesn’t know why people are celebrating birthdays and why they always fall on the same date year after year. Well, they are right about one thing; life really is crazy, especially on social media.

4. Happy Labor Day!

Via providr.com

There is at least one person out there who thinks that Labor Day is meant to celebrate all the mothers who went into labor for their kids. For the record, we actually do have a day dedicated to that and it is called the Mother’s Day. Labor Day, on the other hand, revolves around a completely different kind of labor. It honors the American labor movement and the achievements of the American workers who contributed to the laws, prosperity, strength, and the general well-being of their country. The word labor is used to describe work, especially physical work, and if it is used as a verb, it means that somebody has been working really hard or that they made great effort. Sure, having a baby is definitely hard work, but it is still not what Labor Day is all about.

3. Spelling Fail

Via lamebook.com

We had no idea how much trouble people actually had with the spelling before social media. Once a big part of our everyday communication turned into the written form, we’ve gotten a clearer picture on that problem. From text messages to regular status updates and comments, people write thousands of words on a daily basis and, unfortunately, they often write them completely wrong. The main issue people seem to have is knowing the difference between they’re, their, and there. This girl, however, has a whole other set of spelling troubles, but when you have as many mistakes in a single sentence as she had, you can always count on someone on the social media to point it out to you and mock you a little bit. Well, she had it coming…

2. Poor Parenting Skills

Via collegehumor.com

People often use social media to ask people for advice when they need help with something. However, there are certain moments when that is completely inappropriate, especially if it involves a potentially dangerous situation like the one here. A mother saw her child drinking bleach and instead of calling the doctor immediately and rushing to a hospital (which would be a normal reaction), she decided to ask for advice on social media. Of course, people’s reactions to that were pretty harsh and some even started making fun of her instead of pointing out the seriousness of the situation. It just shows that while social media is great for having fun, it really shouldn’t be your primary resource of information, especially when there is a life in danger. Hopefully, it all turned out okay.

1. That’s The Spirit!

Via pinterest.com

This woman really wants to set the right example for her son, but she’s got the equation all wrong. Apparently, she decided to stay a virgin forever, but somebody should explain to her there is no going back to being “pure” once you give a birth to a child. The only way she was right about this is if she by any chance adopted that little boy or if she gave birth Mary-Jesus-style. Let’s agree none of that probably happened and she just really embarrassed herself on social media. Well, that happens. On a more positive note, at least she wants to be a good role model. Unfortunately, she probably isn’t the smartest role model a child could have, but at least she isn’t doing any real harm to the kid.
