Twitter Smackdown: 17 Of The Most Outrageous Celebrity Fights

Twitter feuds between famous celebrities go viral because everyone loves a good fight. The limited number of characters on Twitter means a good jab sent by a tweet needs to be short and punchy. Retweets then add insult to injury as the fans of either celebrity get involved in the fight and take sides.

With millions of fans, these Twitter battles sometimes have huge followings. Celebrities may start a fight just to get attention from fans. Other times, the fight is more personal because one celebrity feels that they were “dissed” by the other. One thing that is almost guaranteed to start a Twitter fight is if the significant other of one famous celebrity runs off with another one. The paparazzi fervor in catching photos of celebrities out in public and the media’s speculation about celebrity relationships only add fuel to the fire of celebrity jealousy.

Once a Twitter fight starts, it usually escalates, and sometimes lasts for a very long time. Occasionally, the Twitter feud can end with a truce; however, not until the celebrities exhaust themselves with virulent insults cast towards their opponent. Fans jump in, just like kids in a schoolyard, and start flaming the opposition side with tweets and retweets.

Here are fifteen of the most outrageous celebrity Twitter battles. Get ready to tweet!

17. Meek Mill versus Drake

Via YouTube

Meek Mill says that the super popular rapper Drake does not write his own lyrics. So, what? Many popbstars do not write their own songs. However, this started a major Twitter battle between Meek Mill and Drake.

Here is the tweet by Meek Mill attacking Drake:

“Stop comparing drake to me too…. He don’t write his own raps! That’s why he ain’t tweet my album because we found out!”

This fight lasted for about a week. One good thing that came out of this fight is the recognition of ghostwriter Quentin Miller who was “outed” as the original creator of many of Drake’s lyrics. Drake responded to Meek Mill with a couple of disses: tracks. One of those tracks was nominated for a Grammy. Take that Meek Mill!

16. Kim Kardashian Versus Chloë Grace Meritz And Bette Midler

Via Facebook

When Kim Kardashian posted a naked selfie on Twitter, the Internet blew up. Not everyone was happy about it. On one side were excited fans that enjoyed seeing all the salacious details of what kind of body is needed to keep up with a Kardashian. On the other side were the famous celebrities that are feminists, which included Chloë Grace Moretz and Bette Midler. Here was the Kardashian tweet about her nude photo:

“When you’re like I have nothing to wear LOL pic.twitter.com/UlSLZb1fp1”

Here is challenge tweet from Moretz:

“@KimKardashian I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than this.”

When Bette Midler spoke up as well, Kardashian lashed back at her with this tweet:

“hey @BetteMidler I really didn’t want to bring up how you sent me a gift awhile back trying to be a fake friend then come at me #dejavu”

15. Rob Kardashian Versus Blac Chyna

Via NY Daily News and ABC

When Blac Chyna broke up with Rob Kardashian, he went on Twitter to attack her. He claims he spent $100k for plastic surgery to have Chyna’s body done. He complained she was disloyal, cheated on him, and got caught for having sex with so many others. He said he never cheated on her and forgave her for all the bad things she did.

Rob Kardashian also said she gave birth to their daughter and then left him when the little baby was only a few months old. He says he loves his little girl and that she is the best thing that ever happened to him. Nevertheless, after the baby was born, it was sad that Chyna left him.

14. Amanda Bynes Versus Rihanna

Via YouTube

Amanda Bynes had a mental breakdown. While she was dealing with intense mental health issues, she started attacking many celebrities on Twitter. She called Jenny McCarthy, Zac Efron, the Obama family, Drake, Drake’s mother, and Jay Z “ugly” people.

She conducted a very nasty Twitter attack on Rihanna. Bynes’ tweets were way over the top, saying things like Chris Brown beat her because Rihanna is ugly. Bynes also said Rihanna looks like she’s trying to be white and that Rihanna is a dog.

In the aftermath of the Twitter attack, Rihanna is doing just fine. Bynes was diagnosed with bipolar depression and mania. She has been nearly forgotten, with virtually no one interested in any more of her nasty tweets.

13. Nick Cannon Gets His Feelings Hurt by Chelsea Handler

Via Pinterest

This Twitter fight is a classic. It started in 2010 with a single joke made by trash-talking television show host Chelsea Handler who said, “I just heard Nick Cannon is starting a comedy tour. Who is going to do the comedy?” This tweet made Nick Cannon furious.

Cannon blasted back on Twitter saying “I don’t know this broad.” Then, he hit her with his “jokes” that Handler got her TV show by having sex with the President of the E! Network. He said she “looks like she got hit in the face with a hot bag of nickels!” Cannon added that Handler is “white trash” and that she is “like the new Joan Rivers just without the funny and more plastic surgery.”

12. Azealia Banks Versus Lady Gaga

Via dazedimg and alphacoders

Rapper Azealia Banks launched a Twitter attack on Lady Gaga. Her claim was that Lady Gaga stole the title of “Red Flame” from a demo tape that Banks sent previously to Lady Gaga.

Banks obviously does not know that it is not possible to copyright the title of a song. Lyrics and music can be copyrighted but not titles. There is a good reason for this because it would stifle creativity if song titles could be copyrighted.

Naturally, this crazy claim of Banks went nowhere. However, there are unverified rumors that Lady Gaga offered to send Banks the leftover meat from the meat dress that Gaga wore at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.

11. Ice Cube Versus Gene Simmons

Via Youtube

Gene Simmons from Kiss told Rolling Stone magazine that he was “looking forward to the death of rap.” This started a feud with rapper and hip-hop star Ice Cube. Ice Cube who was a member of the rap group N.W.A. was being inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. As part of his acceptance speech, M.C. Ren of N.W.A. said, “I want to say to Mr. Gene Simmons, hip-hop is here forever. Get used to it.” Simmons slammed back with “let me know when Jimi Hendrix gets into the hip-hop hall of fame. Then you’ll have a point.” Ice Cube got in the definitive last word with this tweet:

“@genesimmons Who stole the soul? Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and Chubby Checkers help invent Rock ‘n’ Roll. We invent it. Y’all reprint it.”

10. Shia LaBeouf Versus Alec Baldwin

Via Daily Mail UK

In 2013, there was an attempt to do a play entitled Orphans that would star Alec Baldwin and Shia LaBeouf. LaBeouf was already showing signs of being an out-of-control “bad boy.” LaBeiuf’s bizarre behavior during this time was a precursor to the major public meltdowns that he experienced subsequently.

During rehearsals for the play, LaBeouf’s actions got so bad that he was fired and thereafter the production was canceled. LaBeouf went on Twitter and published copies of the private emails about the matter. In the emails, the play’s director says that LaBeouf and Baldwin are incompatible and that the director should have known it.

LaBeouf responds with a stream of consciousness rant about what it means to be a man as part of his apology to Baldwin.

9. Aziz Ansari Versus Rupert Murdoch

After the terrorist attack in Paris, Rupert Murdoch of the Fox Television Network went on Twitter to make an erroneous claim. He tweeted that even if most Muslims are peaceful, until they find and destroy the cancer of Jihadists among them, they are all responsible for such attacks.

Aziz Ansari responded to this bigoted tweet with a tirade that claimed Rupert Murdoch was responsible for the pedophiles in the Catholic church because he is Catholic and for John Lennon’s murder because he now lives in New York.

Ansari’s tweets were so hilarious that they started a trend with Twitter fans to blame Murdoch for everything that they do by using the hashtag #Rupert’sfault.

8. Kylie Jenner Versus Amber Rose

Via: Los Angeles Times

Amber Rose tweeted that Tyga should be ashamed of himself for dating Kylie Jenner when she was only 17 years old.

Kim Kardashian immediately told Amber Rose to leave her family alone in a series of attack tweets, while pointing out that in the past Amber Rose was a stripper. This provocation caused Amber Rose to go nuclear with Twitter attacks on the entire extended Kardashian family. Rose called then all plastic “hos.” Rose also said that Kim supports her family by being a media “ho.” Then, to really sink the claws in, Rose brought up the old vicious rumor that Khloe was the illegitimate daughter of O.J. Simpson.

7. Aaron Chalmers Versus Lewis Bloor

Via: Scoopnest

Guys can be just as jealous and vicious as women on Twitter. The Twitter feud between Aaron Chalmers and Lewis Bloor started over Marnie Simpson who stars in the Geordie Shore series. Simpson is on the show with Chalmers. She revealed on national TV that she was breaking up with Chalmers to start dating Bloor.

After that, Bloor went on Twitter to take on Chalmers. He told Chalmers that he was sorry that Simpson did not like his “peacock” face or his pencil-shaped private part. He also called him out for a physical fight anywhere Chalmers wanted to meet and that he would put the “peacock boy” on his back.

6. John Cleese Versus Piers Morgan

Via hdnux and Wikimedia

Piers Morgan, who once hosted a television show called Piers Morgan Live, is considered by many to be a complete jerk. On television, he says things that are detestable. In person, he is even worse.

One actor who really does not like Morgan is John Cleese. Cleese was one of the comedians in Monty Python series. These two got in a Twitter fight that has some very fun British humor. Cleese poked Morgan in the eye with this tweet:

“Piers Morgan writes that I didn’t recognize him in a restaurant in New York. I did. I just didn’t want to speak to someone I truly detest.”

5. Piers Morgan Attacks J.K. Rowling

Via Wikimedia and Harper’s Bazaar

J.K. Rowling is the beloved author and creator of the legendary Harry Potter franchise, which was responsible for making the author a billionaire.

Piers Morgan attacked Rowling with offensive tweets. He said, “Nobody plays the celebrity game more abusively and ruthlessly than you, Ms. Intensively Private Billionaire.” Why Morgan would attack Rowling seems insane. Rowling fans overwhelm any hope of Morgan celebrity, which, at best, will be short-lived. He went from being a judge on a talent show to having his own show canceled and few people cared.

Rowling handled Morgan’s Twitter attack in a brilliant way by responding to the insulting tweet with “Could the writer tell me who he is? I’d love to thank him!” We call that killing someone with kindness.

4. Charlie Sheen Versus Rihanna

Via CDN and pinterest

It is a shame that Rihanna seems to be a target for unhinged celebrity nut jobs and wannabe celebrities suffering from a mental collapse. She became a target of a Twitter attack by Charlie Sheen.

Sheen was fired from the popular television show Two and a Half Men. He is known for excessive drug and alcohol use as well as disrespecting women.

This Twitter feud began when Sheen was out on the town at a restaurant with a woman who was his fiancée at the time. Sheen saw Rihanna was also eating in the restaurant. Sheen sent a note to her table asking if Rihanna would meet his fiancée who is a big fan. Rihanna refused, claiming that this would attract more attention from the paparazzi that were already outside the restaurant. This rebuttal made Sheen enraged.

Sheen went on Twitter to call Rihanna a “village idiot”, a “douche” and say that it was a pleasure NOT meeting her. He also said that if she does not like the public attention, she should stay home.

Rihanna responded with a tweet calling Sheen “an old queen with his diapers in a bunch.” Sheen tweeted back to thank her for calling him royalty and that she should “tend to the dungeon in his castle.”

3. Kanye West Versus DeadMau5

Via youredm and mstarnews

Deadmau5 is a DJ known for wearing a mouse helmet during public appearances. Deadmau5 tweeted an attack directed towards Kanye West because West had a tweet showing an image of a torrent on his computer screen. A torrent is a link that is used by those wanting to illegally download music, movies, and software programs. The torrent was for a software program developed by Deadmau5, called Serum, which is used for audio production and sells for $189.

Instead of deleting the offensive tweet that showed West was stealing the program, West responded by saying the DJ’s name was too difficult to pronounce. He also sent tweets making fun of the mouse helmet, asking if it was hot to wear and if he took it on an airplane as carry-on luggage when flying.

2. Lorde Versus Diplo

Via PBS and jrn

Diplo is a wealthy and successful producer. He is also a jerk and a misogynist. The proof of this is that he tweeted a body-shaming tweet with a link to a fundraising website used by people who want to raise money for medical treatments like plastic surgery. Here is his attack tweet directed at Taylor Swift:

“Get Taylor Swift A Booty [fund raising website]”

Swift’s friend Lorde came right back with this slam:

“@diplo should we do something about your tiny penis while we’re at it?”

Lorde’s retort quickly shut down Diplo’s arrogant behavior.

1. The POTUS Versus Everyone

Via: Billboard

The POTUS takes Twitter insults and feuds to a new level. Some of these feuds have lasted for many years. Here are a just a few examples of insults and responses:

Directed at Rosie Donald the POTUS wrote:  “I feel sorry for Rosie ‘s new partner in love whose parents are devastated at the thought of their daughter being with @Rosie–a true loser.” And Rosie replied, “wow u r an ass in every way.”

Apparently, Russel Brand also pissed off the POTUS: “@katyperry must have been drunk when she married Russell Brand @rustyrockets” to which Russell Brand replied, “are you drunk when you write these tweets? Or does that foam you spray on your bald head make you high?”

The almighty Cher also couldn’t escape the POTUS Twitter rants: “Cher is an average talent who is out of touch with reality.” While Cher replied, “After today I can no longer call him President Trump. From this day forward…HE’S ‘PRESIDENT TROLL'”

Cher has called him a loudmouth, bigoted, and obnoxious. Cher said that she would rather stick needles in her eyes than take a photo with him.
